Tuesdays With Dorie: Peanut Butter Crisscrosses

This week’s recipe for the Tuesdays with Dorie bakers is Peanut Butter Crisscrosses, selected by Jasmine of Jasmine Cuisine. These are peanut butter cookies made even peanuttier with the addition of chopped salted peanuts. I added a little chocolate to some of mine too!

What I did: I made a full batch and put mini chocolate chips in about half of the cookies. I used Skippy chunky peanut butter.

How it went: These were easy to mix up. They were a little bit more fussy than other drop cookies, because the dough is rolled in sugar, then put on the cookie sheet, and then pressed flat with a fork in a crisscross pattern. I baked these until they were lightly golden and when they cooled, they were crisp and crumbly. I baked some pans a little bit less, but they were still crisp rather than the crisp-chewy that was described in the recipe.

How it tasted: Excellent! Definitely a crowd-pleaser. I wasn’t sure if I’d like the chopped peanuts, but I liked them a lot. I like crisp cookies, and these had a delicate, crumbly texture. I didn’t get a formal review from my husband, but judging by how many times I’ve seen him headed for the cookie container, he likes them very much. I brought a bunch of them to work and they were well-received. In fact, someone spotted me on the elevator with them, told someone else that I brought cookies, and that person showed up at my desk asking about them. Luckily, there were plenty to go around.

  1. Love the chocolate chips in the cookies. I wanted mine to be crisp – but sadly, they weren’t. Oh well, they tasted good. Glad you have given Around My French Table a good rap, because I just ordered it – but won’t get it til the end of October – darn it.

  10. I think chocolate chips would be great in these. I just made mine plain. I wish I had added a little something extra but they were still good.
